Carol De Souza, MSEd

Creating space for belonging and resilience

Carol brings a heart-centered approach to therapy, deeply shaped by her own lived experience. Born in Brazil and raised in Bolivia, she knows firsthand the layered challenges of starting over — adapting to a new culture, learning a new language, and rebuilding a sense of self from the ground up.

Her personal journey as an immigrant is more than just part of her story — it’s the heartbeat of her work. It fuels her passion for helping others feel truly seen, supported, and strong. Whether you’re navigating cultural transitions, identity shifts, stress, or the quiet weight of uncertainty, Carol offers a compassionate, grounded space where your story can unfold with clarity and care.

With a warm, empowering presence and a strong foundation in both education and mental health, Carol walks alongside clients as they reconnect with their inner resilience. She provides therapy in both English and Spanish, honoring the language where you feel most at home.

Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Virginia University

Masters Degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University

Coursework completed for Masters Degree in Counseling from Walden University

Carol began her professional path as a high school teacher, where she nurtured young minds and noticed the deep emotional needs that often went unspoken. That calling led her to pursue mental health counseling, where she now supports clients in more holistic ways.

Currently a Graduate Counseling Intern under the clinical supervision of Carlita L. Coley, LPC, Carol is gaining hands-on experience in trauma-informed care and emotional healing. Her work integrates therapeutic modalities such as:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

  • Mindfulness-Based Interventions

Her focus: helping clients manage anxiety, process trauma, and build lives grounded in confidence, resilience, and joy.
